Soon the weather will break in Chicago and the festivals will begin. There are so many different events coming up that no one should be bored this Spring or Summer some fests are even free. From outdoor gatherings to indoor venues the possibilities are endless. There is something for everyone from family friendly events to date night events and then the ultimate girls day out! The time is now to plan for these fun events.
One of my favorite things to attend in the Summer time is The Taste of Chicago. So many different restaurants all in one place, live music, and just being in the beautiful Downtown of Chicago guarantees an amazing time. I have so may memories of going with my family and trying so many amazing different dishes. I also remember going to the gospel fest with my grandmother and hearing amazing music while meeting so many new people for all over the city. Here are a few group appealing events coming up that I think would be cool to attend.
Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo 2019
The Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo is also called C2E2. It’s the largest pop culture convention in the Midwest. Whether you’re a fan of comic books, cosplay, video games, anime, TV shows, movies, books, wrestling, comedy, or Instagram worthy picture opportunities. This expo is BIG last year they had over 82,000 visitors so you know this year will most likely be more. This is great for the whole family the kids tickets start at $10 and adults single day tickets start at $30 if you buy in advance. I know Black Panther is going to be a heavy presence at this year show. To get more info on this event check out their site.
Chicago Summer Whiskey Tasting Festival
Summer gives us a little more room to “live a little”! They say the Whiskey Tasting Festival is a great place to connect with friends, family and strangers alike. Make a new connection, try many new whiskeys and some ol’ faithfuls, while you create a new memory to last through the summer! This is surely for the grown and sexy and I think would be a great couple date event. Or just a day to hang with the girls or the guys! For more info and for tickets check out their eventbrite link.
Chicago Tequila & Sangria Festival
Enjoy a myriad of tequilas, sangrias & spirits this a treat to a fun and unique experience. I have really been enjoying “tastings” lately because it’s like you are getting a bang for your buck while trying a different food or drink. At this festival there is 2 different sessions you can attend: mid afternoon or early evening. Your ticket to Chicago Tequila & Sangria includes: Admission to tasting event, Souvenir tasting glass, 15 tasting tickets (to try of a variety of tequilas & sangrias), Entertainment & more! All of this for $30 bucks?! I am sold. Grab your tickets here for this event.
Don’t deal with transportation drama!
The only thing I dislike about Chicago and the amazing festivals they offer is taking public transportation or dealing with the surging prices on the ride share apps to get to the venue and back home. Please don’t get me started on the high parking or meter prices if you decide to drive your own car. You then have to worry about traffic and pray you don’t get a parking ticket because Chicago is known for those. I enjoy getting dropped off right in front of the venue so I can wear cute shoes and cut my walking time in half. I also know that if I go to a tasting and have several drinks I won’t able to drive so to have transportation set up for me and my family or my crew is worth the extra buck.
I suggest booking some guaranteed transportation that came pick everyone up and make sure everyone gets home safe and sound even after a day of trying 15 different sangrias or whiskey shots! Party Bus Chicago is the company I recommend because they have a large fleet you can pick from. Want a small and intimate group outing then use a limo or a smaller party bus, but if you have a huge crowd or you whole family you can have them bring out the BIG party bus. Music, lights, and a safe ride all over the Chicagoland area is what you are promised. Checked them out here and let them know A Real Urban Mom sent you. Also if you decide to attend any of the events I shared let me know maybe we can meet up and get a selfie!
