Chance is my active two year old that loves to play, dance, and anything else that doesn’t require him to sit still. My oldest son wasn’t as busy as Chance so this is something new for me. Lol. I sat at the laptop the other day and I made it up in my mind to find things to do for us at least once a week that will educate him while keep his interest. Also I didn’t want to break the bank. I saw that Shedd Aquarium had a free day coming up and I knew that was exactly what we were going to do. Chance loves water, fish, boats, anything that relates to water. #MomWin
Picking the Shedd was a great idea however Chance didn’t want to leave! Once we found the children’s area in the lower level that really sealed the deal. He didn’t want to leave. He made “friends” and he ran and touched whatever wasn’t nailed down.
As many times as I’ve been to the aquarium there is always something new and different whenever I go. I stood in front of tanks fascinated by the bright and vivid colors and even the size of some of the fish! Chance kept saying “oooh” and “ahhh!” He was definitely impressed and Dennis was too. The fact that Dennis was off work and could come explore with us was a plus.
We also started a “Finding Nemo & Dory” family tradition. Whenever we visit a aquarium we must find Nemo and Dory! Chance was ecstatic to see them in action. It’s a cute and fun tradition that can follow us as we explore different cities and countries.
The Aquatics show was a lot of fun. Lots of interesting facts about the whales and dolphins and the tricks they do are just fantastic. The show is now included in your general admission ticket you just have to go to the ticket kiosk to redeem them.
Please don’t think you have to spend lots of money to have fun with your kiddos. Look for free and discount days, eat before you go to the event, research the exhibits and don’t be afraid to ask for help or suggestions from the employees. Public Transportation (warm days only for me here in Chicago LOL) and Uber are the best options for traveling Downtown Chicago and can help you avoid City Parking tickets or high parking cost! But if you prefer to drive to your destination I suggest you looking into SpotHero because that will help you save on parking and gets rid of the headache of searching for a parking spot.
If you are in the Chicagoland area check out some of my Blogger Boos that showcase fun activities to do with the kiddos as well: Travel with the Russell’s, Mama Fresh, Houseful Of Nicholes, and Abreak4mommy.com. Fun activities are out there we just have to look for them!
I haven’t been to an Aquarium in years!!
Take Baby D! He’s going to love it
