We have all watched the infomercials you know how it goes you see it on TV and it looks amazing. They tell you to “set it and forget it” and that it’s only 22 easy payments of $19.99 for an cooking appliance that we may only use once or twice, but don’t really need. The machine that preserves the food, the machine that bakes and boils. Oh and the machine that promised to do so much but doesn’t even work. Money gone down the drain and counter space gone. Well it takes a really good infomercial to reel me in, but seeing something impressive on social media or YouTube now that catches my interest a little quicker. I’ve seen so many people rave about Air Fryers online and I mentally placed one on my Christmas list along with an InstantPot. As a mom I am mainly responsible for cooking dinner and the thought of a quicker and healthier way to prepare the meal is always a priority. The Air Fryer has been advertised to help make tasty, crispy, and flavorful food with little to no oil. I was sold – especially after I tried some pork chops in air fryer crispy goodness that my friends had prepared. No going back after that.
Christmas came early…
Since I was going to add an Air Fryer to my Christmas List I started watching YouTube videos on the best one to get and reviews. First off I didn’t even know there were 100’s of brands and options when it comes to Air Fryers and of course different price points as well. The good news is I didn’t have to wait until Christmas to get one. Dennis got one from his Aunt for his Birthday and boy oh boy was I excited. I mean what’s his is mines right? I grabbed some wings from Aldi’s to use as a tester for our first attempt.
But wait! There’s more…

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!
My overall opinion on the Air Fryer craze is it’s legit and you need to get one ASAP! Especially if you enjoy fried food and buy convenience foods like hot wings, egg rolls and fries this will help you prepare those items in a timely and healthier manner. If you have a big family you should get the 5.3 qt one or bigger so that you don’t have to keep making several different batches of food. As a family of 4 this size fits us very well. One issue I do have with getting a bigger sized unit is the spacing because it is so big I can’t just leave it on my counter space. Most likely it will go in the cabinets until I need to use it so keep that in mind. I truly love that I can make Chance’s nuggets in there and not worry about a greasy mess in the process. This fryer also included 31 recipe cards which includes ideas for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Dereon and I went through the cards and got so excited because they had so many great recipes like Italian Herb fried Pork Chops and Pigs in a Blanket.
Do your research to see which Air Fryer would work best for you and your family size and get ready to make some tasty fried foods in your kitchen. Have you been thinking about getting an Air Fryer? If you have an Air Fryer already what is your favorite thing to prepare? If you get one tag me (@arealurbanmom) on social media so I can see it!

I’m definitely going to check this out! I have a deep fryer and I’m always on the lookout for healthier ways to enjoy fried foods.
Yes! Let me know how you like it
I have a Phillips small air fryer and my 2 favorite things to cook are meatloaf ( it comes out nice and crusty on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside) and steak. Phillips has a grill pan attachment I’m eager to purchase, but using the regular basket works wonderfully.
Wow meatloaf??! Are you willing to share your recipe??
Let me search for that attachment! Sounds awesome!
